Bride Receives 3-Page Letter About How ‘Disappointing’ Her Wedding Was

A bride had the time of her life at her wedding — but a member of her family was less than impressed.

Kristin Carroll exchanged vows with her husband on May 25 in a ceremony attended by 150 people, according to Newsweek.

The 23-year-old teacher and bride went viral on TikTok after returning from her honeymoon and receiving a three-page negative review of her wedding from one of her guests.

“The sound in my head when I got a 3-page letter about how upsetting my wedding was,” she wrote over a brief video of herself flipping through the pages of the letter. The viral sound “What the heck / What the heck / What the hecky / What the hecky-onte” played in the background as she did so.

“Can’t please everyone I guess,” she wrote in the accompanying caption.

Her video amassed 1.3 million views after she posted it on June 21.

Another video on the topic explained that the letter was “from a family member I haven’t spoken to in years” and that it was about “how ‘disappointing’ my wedding was.”

“You got invited out of obligation, no opinions for you!” she captioned the clip.

Speaking to Newsweek, Carroll reflected on her wedding, which included “a short ceremony” followed by a reception where the bride and groom interacted with their many well-wishers.

“There was an open bar with beer and wine that guests had access to as soon as they entered the reception space,” she recalled.

However, the open bar seemingly offended one guest who had already been outspoken about her feelings on the wedding.

“She has been very opinionated through the planning process, complaining about my venue, which she drove out to see when she got the invitation; the weather prediction for the day of; my dress; and my music choices,” Carroll said about the disgruntled attendee.

After the wedding, the guest took to Facebook to complain about the presence of alcohol. Carroll told the outlet that she reached out to the family member and asked her to bring any issues directly to her instead of posting them on a social media platform.

“I contacted her and told her if she had an issue with what I choose to do with my wedding day and my money, she needs to bring that to me rather than Facebook,” she recalled. “This was when she deleted her post and wrote the letter.”

Saying, “The letter didn’t come as a shock,” Carroll explained that it was focused in “great detail” on the presence of alcohol for guests.

“My initial reaction was anger,” she admitted. “How could she be so entitled to think that any part of the day was about her? The more I thought about it, though, my anger turned to sadness.”

She and the guest are not speaking currently. However, Carroll told the outlet that her family was “gearing up for another outburst” at her sister’s upcoming wedding in August.
